Racism

  1. There's a girl I know who is smart and funny and really easy to talk to. We get along really well. I would love to ask her out, except I've been told she comes from a traditional family and they wouldn't approve of her dating someone who isn't muslim.

Another good friend of mine had to break up with her boyfriend because her parents didn't approve just because he was Indian . He was such an all around great guy, it broke my heart to see their relationship end in such an unfair way.
It really saddens me that this kind of thinking still exists in a country as free as ours.

    1. is that really considered racism? Take a look at it from another light. Many families don't want to complicate their cultural traditions and allow their religion to become 'extinct'. Also it may be considered complicated when children are involved, how will they be raised? Will the religious differences create animosity?

I mean you do have a point about the Indian thing. But we may not be getting the whole story.

      It's just a thought.

    2. I'd say it's racism. Wouldn't it be much better to promote your religion through acceptance and understanding, rather than exclusion? I think in forcing your beliefs upon someone you run the risk of alienating them.

  2. Today I heard the *n* word being used as a derogatory term to put something down. Humans are so cruel.

    1. I agree. People need to realize that language is a weapon not to be used lightly. In fact I argue that it is more powerful than a weapon because you can't take anything back.

  3. don't hate me because of the colour of my skin.. I feel like some groups exclude you because of the way you look. It hurts.
