My friend told me to check out this site and I thought it was a really interesting idea. This "verbal abuse" tab reminds me of a story and I thought I would share.
Last night I went to the mall and I saw a man standing outside with a contained for money and a sign saying "will accept change in exchange for verbal abuse". This was horrific that someone would allow themselves to be verbally tormented just for a couple dollars. He is allowing himself to trade in his dignity for small change and I guess this is his last resource? I wanted to help him more than just by giving him a couple dollars but I didn't know how. I feel like a terrible person :(.
You have no reason to feel like a terrible person! It's not your fault that he is subjecting himself to that harm. It was nice of you to give him change. He is a grown man, he will find his own way.
Today a resident blatantly called me a lesbian and fat and ugly. My persona in SL doesn't look this way so why am I still getting the same abuse I am getting in my RL? How did he know?
maybe you portray yourself in a negative light and not even realize it? I suggest to watch how you interact with people carefully to see if this is the case. Definitely start to try and love yourself. It will make a world of difference.
